The waiting is finally over and I will soon have my feet on the ground in Haiti once again. Having to cancel our November trip was devastating and it has now been nearly a year since I have been able to check on the progress of the clinic…but more importantly, it has been far too long since I have been able to lay eyes on and embrace our friends. This is the hardest part – enduring the interval between our trips, especially when conditions in the country have created such a hardship for them and all those we care for.
I am so thankful to be a member of this new team from Michigan. Chelsea and I have been invited to join as advisors. We will assist the team in establishing a consistent clinic process…yet another step in reaching our ultimate goal-providing regular and sustainable medical services to a population in great need.
The journey begins today and we will all meet up in the Miami airport after midnight, for what is sure to be a brief and “restful” slumber, before boarding the first flight into Port au Prince…we have been down this path before – efficient yes, but also an exhausting 36 hours of travel. The payoff is definitely worth it though!
I look forward to meeting team leader Deann and her crew – Neal and Anna, Pam, Megan, Jason and Seth! Welcome to the family – team Project Starfish-Haiti!! I know we will have a great week and I look foward to many happy returns for the good of our Haitian patients and friends!
Please pray for our safe travels and do consider supporting our efforts with a monetary donation. We have come so far, but still have a long way to go.
There is sure to be more to follow, if the signal is strong on the island…
As Always…Love to All,
Adam
