Good evening to everyone. I am trying to keep up and must thank our webmaster, Katie Murphy, for patiently awaiting text and photos and then putting them all together for us in a coherent and artful way. Mesi Anpil Katie!!

Last night after sorting thousands of pills, we all hit the mattress for well deserved sleep. Once awake, we ate a hearty breakfast and loaded into the truck for our first clinic on this island.

We took over a large room at the government owned clinic in Madame Béna. The six of us divided into 3 groups, each with a translator and went old school on this place. We saw upwards of 110 patients and dispensed hundreds of medications. Rusty is now a certified pharmacist in Haiti…just waiting on the paperwork.

We were pleased not to find anything resembling cholera or any other very serious illness, nor any injuries related to the hurricane. This is a very resilient people and they seem to have returned to their usual routines quickly. There are signs of the aftermath of the storm everywhere but life really does go on! We could and should learn so much by their example.

Once the last patient was seen, we loaded up the meds and made the bumpy ride home. A late lunch was quickly consumed and the team set off for a dip in the ocean. We were accompanied by a crowd of boys from the school and orphanage…many new friends (zanmi) made!

We also visited the future clinic site and ran into my mid-life crisis…Harley/Ferrari the horse! Might need to resume negotiations with Léon….whadya say Mylinda?? Anyway, we did make it to the water and it was just what the doctor ordered….that and a bottle of Prestige!

We have now enjoyed a delicious dinner and are winding down. Might make it to the roof with another beverage before turning in for the night. We have clinic right here at the church tomorrow…roll out and get to work!

So far all has gone well and we are continuing to make connections on the island. I believe the dream will be realized…with our commitment and Léon’s vision, there really is no doubt.

That’s all for now.

Love to All, The Team
